Patty Kuderer Elected Vice Chair of NAIC Western Zone for Regulatory Leadership

Washington State Insurance Commissioner Patty Kuderer has taken on the role of Vice Chair for the Western Zone within the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). Her appointment was confirmed during the NAIC's annual meeting in Hollywood, Florida, on December 11. This new role extends her involvement in the NAIC’s Executive Committee and follows her previous position as Treasurer/Secretary for the Western Zone.

Western Zone Leadership and Regulatory Collaboration

The NAIC serves as a comprehensive framework that unites regulatory bodies from all U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. It is structured into four regional zones: Northeastern, Southeastern, Midwestern, and Western. The Western Zone, which includes significant jurisdictions like Washington, California, and American Samoa, emphasizes fostering regulatory collaboration and enhancing compliance efficiencies across the insurance industry.

Enhancing Regulatory Compliance and Consumer Protection

As Vice Chair, Kuderer will play a critical leadership role within the Western Zone, assisting the zone chair in coordinating state-specific regulatory activities. Her efforts aim to align with the NAIC's overarching goals of protecting consumers and maintaining a competitive insurance marketplace. The NAIC, established in 1871, supports U.S. insurance commissioners by offering expert guidance, data dissemination, and comprehensive industry analysis to bolster regulatory compliance and effective risk management.
