Missouri Court Clarifies Coverage for Custom Equipment on Spray Foam Trailers
The Missouri Court of Appeals ruled on the classification of a spray foam trailer in a coverage dispute case, Faries v. United Servs. Auto. Ass'n, 628 S.W.3d 257 (Mo. Ct. App. 2021). Joseph Faries purchased a spray foam trailer assembled by Spray Foam Systems of Georgia, consisting of various components affixed to a trailer from Horton Haulers, and insured it under a personal auto policy with USAA including collision and comprehensive coverage. The court determined that the equipment affixed to the trailer did not fall under the "custom equipment" coverage limit, impacting how physical damage coverage is applied to such assembled equipment under auto policies.
