Oklahoma Insurance Regulator Probes State Farm Roof Claim Practices

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready has revealed that his agency is currently investigating roof insurance claims independently of a private homeowners' lawsuit against State Farm. The homeowners allege that State Farm engaged in an unlawful scheme to avoid fulfilling legitimate insurance payouts related to roof damages. This investigation follows a recent legal development where Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a motion to intervene in litigation against State Farm Fire and Casualty Company. The motion alleges that State Farm implemented a coordinated program to reduce insurance payouts for valid hail and wind damage claims by denying or lowering the claims improperly.
