Hawaii Promotes NAIC Life Insurance Policy Locator Tool in 2025

The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Insurance Division is promoting the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' Life Insurance Policy Locator tool during Life Insurance Awareness Month.

This free online service helps beneficiaries locate life insurance policies and annuity contracts of deceased loved ones, addressing the issue of unclaimed benefits. In the first half of 2025, this tool facilitated the recovery of $5.7 million in benefits from over 234 policies for Hawaii residents. Insurance Commissioner Scott Saiki emphasized the tool's role in easing the financial burden on families following a loss.

The process ensures that if a policy is found and the requester is a named beneficiary, the insurance or annuity company will contact them directly.
