Liberty Mutual Launches Infrastructure Solutions Unit to Enhance Risk Management
Liberty Mutual Insurance has launched a new Infrastructure Solutions unit within its Global Risk Solutions (GRS) division to enhance support for complex infrastructure programs across construction, energy, and digital sectors. This initiative targets projects ranging from construction to extensive civil and technical efforts, aiming to provide specialized risk management solutions. GRS currently serves 80 of the top 100 Engineering News-Record contractors, reflecting its significant presence in the infrastructure insurance market.
Two senior executives have been appointed to spearhead this new unit. Douglas Schrift, named global head of infrastructure, will focus on coordination of account-level strategies and serve as the primary liaison to brokers and clients. Schrift brings over 25 years of diverse industry experience, including his recent role as chief underwriting officer for Subcontractor Default Insurance at Liberty Mutual Surety.
Manuela Baroncini has been appointed as Global Technical Lines leader, overseeing worldwide energy and construction underwriting with a focus on first-party property and builder’s risk insurance products. Baroncini’s previous experience includes global leadership at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in engineering and construction, where she managed portfolio and growth strategies, particularly in renewable energy sectors.
Liberty Mutual’s Global Risk Solutions president emphasized the company’s strategic positioning to address the complex demands of global infrastructure projects through scale, breadth, and underwriting specialization. The formation of Infrastructure Solutions and the appointment of experienced leaders reflect a targeted response to evolving market needs in infrastructure risk management.
