USAA Expands Chesapeake Office to Support Growing Military Membership
USAA is expanding its workforce in Chesapeake, Virginia, with the purchase of a new nearly 200,000-square-foot office space at 1341 Crossways Blvd. This expansion supports the company’s growing membership, which increased by 1 million members last year, reaching over 14 million total members. The new facility is designed to enhance service capabilities and provide a modern work environment for employees, reflecting USAA's commitment to sustained growth and member support.
The Chesapeake location is strategically important due to its proximity to 20 military installations and serves as a hub to engage with the military community. USAA anticipates adding over 500 new employees over the next two years, focusing on attracting skilled military personnel transitioning to civilian careers. This expansion aligns with USAA’s historical ties to the military and veterans, reinforcing its specialized market focus.
Amenities at the new office include a cafeteria, fitness center, and a claims technical training center equipped with vehicles for hands-on learning. These features aim to improve employee training and support operational efficiency, particularly in claims handling and customer service. The facility is located just a short distance from USAA’s current Chesapeake operations, facilitating a smooth transition beginning in March 2026.
USAA offers comprehensive Total Rewards benefits to attract and retain talent, including competitive pay, health and wellness programs, parental benefits, and retirement matching. The company’s approach emphasizes employee well-being alongside operational expansion to ensure sustained service quality.
With a workforce exceeding 38,000 globally, USAA maintains a strong presence in eight U.S. cities and three overseas locations. The Chesapeake expansion underscores USAA’s commitment to being a leading insurer and financial services provider for military members, veterans, and their families. This move will support ongoing growth and maintain USAA’s position in the Hampton Roads region labor market.
