U.S. Life Insurance Application Activity Grows 1.6% Year-Over-Year in May 2025

Life insurance application activity in the U.S. showed a modest increase of 1.6% year-over-year in May 2025, according to the MIB Life Index. Activity was up 1% compared to May 2023 and 8.6% compared to May 2022, with a year-to-date increase of 0.9% through May 2025 relative to the same period in 2024. However, activity declined 4.3% month-over-month from April to May 2025. Age-wise trends reveal that individuals aged 71 and older continue to drive growth, achieving three consecutive months of double-digit increases. The 61+ age group also showed positive growth, while the 31-60 group remained flat and those under 30 experienced declines in application activity.
