CIC Services Expands EnviroCap Liability Program with Broader Captive Coverage
CIC Services has extended its EnviroCap Liability Program to provide more comprehensive insurance coverage options for business owners, incorporating auto liability, workers' compensation, and general liability within a captive insurance framework. This enhancement responds to the continued rise in commercial insurance premiums over 29 consecutive quarters, alongside an increase in exclusions and coverage restrictions, as reported by the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB). Originally launched in 2021 with Environmental Risk Managers (ERMI), EnviroCap was designed to help businesses manage environmental risks via captive insurance; however, growing underwriting constraints and regulatory scrutiny have created a demand for broader liability solutions.
The upgraded EnviroCap product allows qualified middle-market companies, including contractors, manufacturers, waste management, and transportation firms, to establish legally compliant captive insurance companies backed by AM Best “A”-rated carriers. This structure empowers business owners to assume greater control over their insurance costs and coverage terms, potentially mitigating the impact of escalating premiums and contracting coverage in traditional commercial liability policies.
Recent CIAB data indicates that commercial property and casualty premiums have been rising steadily with particular volatility in liability coverage—characterized by reduced limits, increased deductibles, and industry-specific exclusions. EnviroCap addresses these market challenges by allowing policyholders to build customized insurance entities that align closely with their unique business operations, risks, and exposures.
The program’s strategic value lies in its approach to transforming business owners from passive recipients of insurance pricing to active decision-makers with tailored risk management plans. Its expansion reflects evolving risk landscapes where environmental exposures coexist with heightened pressures on other liability lines, necessitating flexible and innovative insurance solutions beyond traditional offerings.
By maintaining a captive insurance structure, EnviroCap supports regulatory compliance while delivering enhanced coverage breadth and financial stability through partnerships with reputable carriers. This evolution in the liability insurance market illustrates the increasing role of captive programs in addressing complex and dynamic risk environments faced by middle-market enterprises.
