Oregon's Initiative to Support Homeowners After Wildfires
The Oregon Division of Financial Regulation is launching a crucial initiative to support homeowners in the aftermath of severe wildfires, which have devastated communities and complicated access to insurance coverage.
Following a challenging fire season that resulted in the destruction of 217 homes and impacted more than 2.1 million acres, the division aims to assist residents struggling to secure or maintain homeowners insurance. Recognizing the extensive damage, they have organized a series of open houses from October 28 to November 19. These events will provide valuable resources, strategies for shopping for coverage, and individualized consultations with industry representatives. Homeowners, particularly those in areas prone to wildfires and experiencing insurance nonrenewals, are urged to attend.
Participants will gain insights into handling insurance nonrenewals and will have the opportunity to discuss their specific situations with professionals. The division's initiatives are part of broader efforts to mitigate the challenges posed by natural disasters on insurance markets. For additional support, the division encourages residents to visit its wildfire resources webpage or contact department advocates directly.
