ICICI Life Insurance's Initiative to Empower Women Advisors
ICICI Life Insurance aims to recruit 20,000 women advisors across India by the end of the fiscal year 2027, as part of its Narishakti initiative.
The recruitment drive marks the second anniversary of Narishakti, a program designed to empower women within the company’s agency distribution network. Currently, women advisors constitute 45% of ICICI Life's agency business, with over 78,000 female advisors as of late September 2026. Women comprise approximately 32% of the total advisor base, demonstrating the company's commitment to gender diversity and the enhancement of women’s roles in the insurance field. Chief Distribution Officer Amish Banker noted the substantial contributions of women advisors in understanding customer needs and growing the agency business, particularly in cities like Bengaluru, Kerala, and Mumbai, where they account for more than half of the agency operations.
Empowering Women in Insurance
Initiated two years ago, Narishakti supports women in developing their careers as financial planners in insurance. This aligns with the Indian government’s goal of achieving "Insurance for All" by 2047. The initiative not only provides training and support, but also offers women the flexibility to manage their schedules. This approach fosters financial independence and allows women to balance professional and personal commitments effectively. As of September 2026, 47% of ICICI's female advisors have been with the company for over a decade, and more than 500 have qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table, recognizing their achievements in the industry.
