New York Life Donates $75,000 to Youth Development Programs
New York Life has donated $75,000 to the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Madison Square Boys & Girls Club through its Strikeout Series with the New York Yankees, supporting youth development programs.
Each strikeout by a Yankees pitcher during home games generates a $100 donation for the initiative. This commitment underscores New York Life's dedication to community engagement and youth mentorship. At a recent Yankee Stadium event, leaders from New York Life Foundation, the Yankees, and the beneficiary organizations celebrated the donation. Heather Nesle, president of the New York Life Foundation, emphasized the importance of providing youth with consistent mentorship and development opportunities. She expressed enthusiasm for the foundation's collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs, highlighting its vital role in supporting young people.
Youth Mentorship and Investment
In addition to the Strikeout Series, New York Life Foundation is further expanding its impact with the Coaching the Future initiative. This program is set to invest $15 million over three years to train 25,000 coaches and mentors, significantly enhancing youth access to knowledgeable guidance. As a key partner, Boys & Girls Clubs of America will receive $3.2 million of this funding to strengthen youth sports and facilities. The importance of these contributions is seen in providing safe, supportive environments for youth development—a sentiment echoed by Daniel Quintero of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Elaine Rocha of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club.
Past Contributions and Future Commitments
Founded in 2024, the Strikeout Series continues to translate athletic accomplishments into real community benefits. Brian Smith, senior vice president at New York Yankees, highlighted the considerable community impact of the program through its links with baseball. The initiative's 2025 donations benefited Bronx YMCA branches, and its inaugural year saw support extended to SCAN Harbor in Harlem and the Bronx. These efforts align with New York Life's consistent focus on promoting educational and recreational prospects for youth across New York City.
