Octave Specialty Group Reports Strong Q2 2026 Results Amid Strategic Growth

Octave Specialty Group, a U.S.-listed specialty insurer, reported robust financial results for the second quarter of 2026. This performance was driven by improved underwriting at its Everspan division and significant growth in its insurance distribution operations. Notably, Everspan achieved a substantial reduction in its loss ratio to 61.4%, leading to over a 600 basis point improvement in its combined ratio compared to the same period in 2025. Consequently, Octave's net income rose to $1.1 million from $0.4 million last year, with adjusted EBITDA increasing to $1.8 million from $0.7 million.

The specialty property and casualty insurance segment remained stable, with gross premiums written at $95 million, reflecting a slight 2% decrease year-on-year. However, net premiums written surged by 52% to $23 million. The group's total revenue increased significantly by 51% to $83 million from the prior year's $55 million, primarily driven by the Insurance Distribution segment's acquisition of ArmadaCare and a 44% rise in organic revenue.

A noticeable reduction in net loss attributable to shareholders was achieved, improving to $14.4 million from a $20.5 million deficit the previous year. The Insurance Distribution segment reduced its net loss to $3.7 million from $7.7 million, while Everspan's net income reached $1.1 million compared to $0.4 million last year. Adjusted net loss narrowed to $1.8 million from $10.6 million, and adjusted EBITDA to shareholders saw improvement, rising to $3.7 million from a $4.6 million loss, supported by the organic growth of its managing general agent platform and increased ownership of Octave Ventures to 70%.
