Adam Winslow Takes the Helm of CFC as New CEO
Adam Winslow has commenced his role as the group CEO of CFC, succeeding Louise O'Shea. Winslow transitions from Direct Line Group, where he acted as group CEO and played a pivotal role in the company’s merger with Aviva, handling £3.7 billion in investments. O'Shea, who spent nearly six years in leadership roles at CFC, including serving as an independent non-executive director before becoming chief executive, will continue to hold a substantial share in the business after stepping down.
During the interim period, Andy Holmes, CFC’s group capacity director with a 23-year tenure at the company, served as acting CEO. Reflecting on her leadership, O'Shea expressed gratitude for the opportunity to guide the insurer and acknowledged the collaborative, ambitious culture built within CFC. She praised the collective achievements of the team and conveyed optimism about the future under Winslow’s leadership.
On his first day, Winslow noted the dynamic culture at CFC, emphasizing the energy and entrepreneurship driving its success. He expressed enthusiasm for working with colleagues to build upon CFC’s existing foundation, aiming to enhance market leadership and facilitate growth. Additionally, CFC is anticipating another significant leadership change with the upcoming addition of Chris Loake as Chief Information Officer in November. Loake, currently with Hiscox, will oversee the company’s technology strategy, complementing the leadership team including Jane Poole, the group CFO.
Based in London, CFC operates globally, employing over 1,000 individuals and specializing as a managing general agent (MGA) with a focus on cyber and emerging risk underwriting. Winslow's transition to CFC aligns with a trend of senior executives moving from large UK insurers to the specialty and MGA sectors, which are increasingly prominent in the London market. Observers are keen to see how Winslow's expertise, rooted in personal lines and large-scale integration, will be tailored to CFC’s distinct culture of product innovation and growth established under O'Shea.
