Pinnacle Risk Management Consulting: Enhancing Employee Health Benefits

Pat Shuler, an alumnus of Trine University, has partnered in establishing a new enterprise focused on risk management and employee health benefits. The company aims to efficiently manage employer costs while enhancing overall employee health. Shuler, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in management in 1991, will act as the chief operating officer, overseeing data analytics, relationships with carriers and third-party administrators, as well as small group sales.

Shuler's career in the insurance and benefits industry traces back to his college years at what was then Tri-State University. He gained experience at Great Fidelity Life in Fort Wayne, working on Medicare Supplement and Long-Term Care programs, mentored by the company's president. His career progressed through various roles, including positions with the parent company AIA in Idaho.

After relocating to Indiana, Shuler shifted his focus to group health insurance, joining CoreSource as a marketing professional. This experience provided him with comprehensive exposure to both prospective and renewal client interactions. Shuler's career took him to Florida in 2003, where he became vice president of underwriting at Self Insured Plans, a third-party administrator.

In 2008, Shuler founded Corporate Benefits Group, a general agency targeting small to mid-sized employers in Florida and Indiana. At its zenith, the agency managed $25 million in stop loss premiums with over 100 group health clients. This year, Shuler, alongside experienced brokers Dave Meguschar and Dan Kelley from Indianapolis, launched Pinnacle Risk Management Consulting (RMC) in May.

Based in Carmel, Indiana, Pinnacle RMC offers comprehensive risk management solutions. These include strategic planning, funding strategies, analytical insights, pharmacy and clinical oversight, compliance and governance, as well as employee communication. Pinnacle RMC targets industries such as private businesses, hospitals, senior living facilities, and education, supporting employer groups ranging from 20 to over 2,500 employees.
