Leadership Changes in the Insurance Sector: Arch, Canopius, and More
Arch Insurance recently introduced leadership changes, appointing Nora Deveau as chief claims officer. Deveau, who has been with Arch since 2005, previously served as deputy chief claims officer, succeeding Patrick Nails after his retirement. Matt Shulman, CEO of Arch Insurance North America, commended Deveau for her expertise in handling complex claims and her dedication to customer service.
Meanwhile, Arch Insurance International has appointed Sophie Law as cyber underwriting manager, after her tenure as a senior cyber underwriter. Law will spearhead underwriting strategies in the cyber sector. Additionally, Arch Reinsurance Group promoted William Soares to CEO in Bermuda and Jon Schriber to CEO in the U.S., both reporting to Jerome Halgan, CEO of Arch Global Reinsurance Group.
Canopius Group announced Nadine Moore as CEO of its U.S. operations, starting in September. Moore, previously a managing director at Boston Consulting Group, is slated to propel growth in both retail and wholesale insurance markets for Canopius in the U.S. Neil Robertson, Group CEO of Canopius, voiced confidence in Moore’s leadership to enhance the company’s market position. Additionally, Melanie M. Brown was appointed head of U.S. claims, transitioning from her senior role at Munich Re Specialty North America.
The Hartford welcomed Randy Larsen to its board of directors. Former CEO of AssuredPartners, Larsen brings significant expertise in finance, investments, and risk management to various board committees. Christopher Swift, Chairman and CEO of The Hartford, emphasized Larsen’s deep insurance marketplace knowledge as a strategic asset for the company.
Nationwide Institutional Life Insurance appointed Justin Lee to lead product strategy and delivery. Having joined Nationwide in 2002, Lee previously held the role of senior associate vice president on the Financial Finance team. Jessica Dowdy, President of Institutional Life Insurance, highlighted Lee’s pivotal role in advancing Nationwide’s industry standing.
USAA has appointed Mara Motherway as senior vice president and head of government relations. Transitioning from Lockheed Martin, Motherway brings extensive strategy and business development experience. Juan C. Andrade, President and CEO of USAA, noted her comprehensive public policy knowledge will strengthen USAA's advocacy efforts.
Mile Auto, operating as a managing general agent, has acquired The Insurance House, which will continue its operations under existing brands.
