Janus Henderson Strengthens Client Service with New Director Appointments
Janus Henderson Investors has strengthened its institutional client service teams with the addition of three new directors. This strategic move enhances their specialized client coverage across sectors, including insurance, outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) services, and financial institutions with a focus on alternatives. These appointments are set to improve the company's ability to provide tailored investment strategies that align with the unique needs of institutional clients.
The new directors include Sanaz Maleki, who will oversee insurance client coverage, and Kevin Smith, tasked with managing the OCIO and financial institution segments. Reporting to Aaron Kilberg, head of North America institutional sales, both Maleki and Smith bring substantial industry expertise to their roles. Additionally, Chris Castano will concentrate on client engagement in the alternatives market, under the supervision of Kelly Cavagnaro, leader of the North America institutional client group.
Maleki comes with 18 years of experience from Nuveen, while Smith boasts a 26-year career, previously with Participant Capital and Crossbay Capital Partners LLC. Castano adds his 25-year tenure from leadership positions at Sextant Capital Solutions and GCM Grosvenor. Kelly Cavagnaro emphasized the importance of seasoned professionals in delivering advanced investment solutions and sector knowledge, which is crucial for enhancing client service. This move aligns with Janus Henderson’s broader strategy to forge stronger relationships with institutional investors through targeted, consultative approaches.
Earlier in the year, Janus Henderson formed a strategic alliance with Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America, involving a $100 million investment into a new active fixed-income ETF. Collaboration on the JABS asset-based-securities ETF further illustrates the firm’s ongoing efforts to innovate in partnership with major institutional clients. As of March, Janus Henderson Group managed approximately $480 billion in assets and had accepted a $7.4 billion acquisition offer from Trian Fund Management L.P. and General Catalyst Group Management LLC, reinforcing its market position and strategic growth objectives.
