Key Leadership Appointments and Strategic Moves in the Insurance Industry

In a dynamic week for the insurance industry, several key appointments have been announced across the specialty, wholesale, insurtech, and claims sectors. CRC Group is undergoing a major restructuring as it continues its transformation into a diversified underwriting platform.

CRC Group has appointed Bethany Greenwood as the chief executive officer of its underwriting division. Greenwood will oversee entities such as Starwind Specialty, AmRisc, Atrium, and Euclid Transactional. With over 25 years in specialty insurance, she was previously head of specialty risks for a global insurance and reinsurance firm in London. This leadership move follows CRC's acquisition of Lloyd's managing agency Atrium, which manages Syndicate 609 with $1.3 billion in gross written premiums, and the purchase of Euclid Transactional, a specialist in representations and warranties and tax liability insurance.

CRC's Strategic Expansion and Innovation

The reshuffling continues with CRC establishing a new Risk Solutions Division, appointing Bill Goldstein as head of strategic partnerships. Goldstein, who was CEO of CRC's Underwriting Division, will develop capacity structures and risk vehicles across the firm. CRC's initiatives like the Trouvaille Re collateralized reinsurance sidecar and the Fractal Re casualty quota share sidecar demonstrate its commitment to innovative solutions.

Liberty Mutual Insurance has promoted Defne Turkes to president and managing director of Liberty International Insurance, effective July 2026. Based in Singapore, Turkes will oversee international commercial insurance and retail markets in Asia, reporting to GRS president Matthew Moore. She succeeds Phil Hobbs, who is transitioning to president of underwriting at GRS. Turkes joined Liberty in 2006 and has held key roles, including CFO in Turkey and president of the Asia retail businesses.

Delos Insurance's Strategic Appointment

In a strategic move, Delos Insurance Solutions has appointed Wendy Cammet as chief product officer. Previously with Foremost Insurance, Cammet's experience will support Delos' aim to expand coverage to a million homes in wildfire-prone areas of California. Founded by aerospace engineers, Delos utilizes data analytics and machine learning to insure homes in high-risk areas. Despite increased enrollment in the state's FAIR Plan, Delos reported no insured losses during the Los Angeles wildfires, highlighting the effectiveness of its approach.

Insight Service Group has brought Michael Sieger, a former Progressive Insurance executive, onto its board of advisors. Sieger, who retired from Progressive in 2022, adds over three decades of experience in claims strategy and operations. ISG offers integrated claims and litigation support to carrier clients, enhancing efficiency and outcomes.

In another key appointment, Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance named Courtney Flanagan as vice president of claims, succeeding John Kennealy, who retires in August 2026. Flanagan, formerly with Encova Insurance Company, will address the rising claims environment exacerbated by high Canadian lumber tariffs, which impact replacement costs and co-insurance risk for policyholders.
