Sagility Acquires CareSeed to Enhance Healthcare Quality Operations
Sagility, a leader in healthcare operations and technology transformation, has acquired CareSeed—a firm renowned for its expertise in healthcare analytics, particularly NCQA-certified HEDIS quality reporting. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, CareSeed was founded in 2012 and supports 30 U.S. payers, with a strong focus on the Medicare Advantage sector. Its cloud-native platforms, Forecast and Harvest, are designed to boost HEDIS performance, streamline chart abstraction and medical record reviews, and ensure compliance with complex regulatory demands.
With this acquisition, Sagility expands its capabilities in healthcare quality and Stars initiatives. This strategic move aims to shift health plans away from traditional retrospective HEDIS reporting towards a more integrated and proactive quality orchestration at the member level. By merging CareSeed’s technological assets with Sagility’s operations, clinical expertise, and AI-driven transformation abilities, the partnership will deliver a comprehensive quality operations platform. This platform will support health plans throughout various stages of the quality lifecycle, covering activities such as HEDIS abstraction, care gap closure, provider engagement, and performance monitoring.
The Forecast platform by CareSeed provides NCQA-certified HEDIS reporting and quality analytics, while Harvest facilitates cloud-based medical record review and chart abstraction. These systems are crucial for transforming quality operations and managing integrated care. Furthermore, the acquisition enhances Sagility’s market reach, particularly among mid-sized payers, and opens opportunities to extend their quality and Stars solutions to larger national health plans.
Financial advisory for CareSeed was provided by Houlihan Lokey, with legal advice from Allrise Legal Counsel and Swanson Bernard. Sagility extends its comprehensive healthcare operations services to payers, providers, and pharmacy benefit managers, serving over 80 healthcare clients, including seven of the top ten U.S. health plans.
Ramesh Gopalan, Managing Director and Group CEO of Sagility, emphasized that CareSeed’s capabilities in quality measurement and healthcare analytics, when combined with Sagility’s operational and transformation expertise, are set to create a more integrated quality operations model. This model will aid health plans in enhancing care outcomes and achieving financial sustainability.
Thomas Mueller, CEO of CareSeed, remarked that joining Sagility integrates their quality analytics proficiency with Sagility’s comprehensive operational and clinical expertise, delivering significant value improvements to health plans under regulatory pressures.
