Trucordia Acquires Hecht-Stout Insurance Agency to Expand Reach

Trucordia has recently acquired Hecht-Stout Insurance Agency, a brokerage based in Dunlap, Illinois, renowned for its strong presence in the Peoria region. This acquisition marks another step in Trucordia's strategy to expand its platform through regional additions, maintaining its status as a leading brokerage firm in the United States. The financial specifics of the deal remain undisclosed.

Under the management of Gregory Gerontes since 2008, Hecht-Stout brings extensive industry knowledge and a client-centric approach. Gerontes, initially mentored by the agency's former owner Hiles Stout, is celebrated for simplifying complex insurance issues for clients. Trucordia's CEO Felix Morgan emphasized this trait as a key factor in the acquisition.

Felix Morgan highlighted the Hecht-Stout team's blend of technical expertise and personalized client service, stating, "Gregory and his team have demonstrated a remarkable ability to demystify complex coverage questions, aligning perfectly with our client service values." This acquisition supports Trucordia's commitment to enhancing client experiences while leveraging industry expertise.

Gregory Gerontes views the acquisition as a growth opportunity that enhances the agency's offerings due to Trucordia's scale and resources. "Joining Trucordia allows us to maintain our client-focused approach while gaining access to broader market support," Gerontes explained. Clients of Hecht-Stout are expected to benefit from consistent service levels, now strengthened by Trucordia's expansive resources and carrier partnerships.

This transaction is one of many in Trucordia's recent expansion efforts. Originating in 1987 and rebranding from PCF Insurance Services in 2024, Trucordia accelerated its growth trajectory with substantial investments, including a $1.3 billion backing from Carlyle, which valued the firm at $5.7 billion. Subsequent debt financing of $2.5 billion facilitated refinancing and acquisition funding.

Despite an aggressive acquisition strategy, Trucordia is focusing on strategic alignments and sustainable scaling, having reduced the number of transactions from nearly 100 in 2022 under its then-PCF branding to 22 in 2024. In a significant milestone, Trucordia rebranded 100 acquired entities under its name in 2025, aiming to organize acquisitions by geographic and sectoral platforms.

Competing with firms like Gallagher and Acrisure, Trucordia operates in a market where consolidation among independent agencies is ongoing. This dynamic landscape sees several regional and national players pursuing similar strategic expansions, emphasizing the importance of effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
