Savvy Senior: Empower Your Financial Wellness Journey in Georgia

The Georgia Secretary of State's Office will host a pivotal financial wellness event titled "Savvy Senior: Empower Your Financial Wellness Journey" on June 11 at the University of North Georgia in Blue Ridge. Running from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the program is organized with UNG Evergreen Learning and the Senior Medicare Patrol to focus on retirement planning and fraud prevention strategies, essential components of comprehensive financial literacy.

This seminar aims to enhance attendees’ financial literacy, equipping them with insights and practical strategies to protect their finances. Open to all Georgia residents, the event promises insights without commercial intent, offering a complimentary continental breakfast to registrants. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger underscores the value of financial literacy, asserting it as "the best line of defense against those who look to exploit our seniors."

Expert Panels to Highlight Financial Challenges

The event will feature two expert panels. The "Financial Wellness" panel includes Shardéa Ages, Founder & Principal at Ages Legacy Advisors, and retired private wealth advisor Robert MacDonald. The "Fraud Awareness" panel will convene specialists such as Morgan Alexander from the GBI Crimes Against Disabled, Adults and Elderly Task Force, Nathan Coflin from the Senior Medicare Patrol, Shawn Conroy from the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office, and Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities. Part of a broader initiative, the Savvy Senior seminar series by the Georgia Secretary of State is devoted to advancing financial literacy across the state, offering resources to foster financial well-being for all participants.
