Leadership Changes in U.S. Insurance Industry Enhance Growth

The U.S. insurance industry has recently experienced significant leadership changes aimed at enhancing business growth and operational efficiency. These strategic appointments reflect a commitment to improving service delivery and expanding market presence across various sectors.

HUB International has appointed Kyle Bloemers as the national chief cross-sell officer, a newly created role. Bloemers will spearhead a strategy for cross-selling within HUB’s commercial lines, employee benefits, private client, and retirement and private wealth segments across 34 North American regions.

At Markel International, Dan McCarthy has been named the managing director of a recently realigned division covering marine, energy, and construction in the London Market. This restructuring is intended to enhance accountability, streamline trading processes, and provide brokers with improved access to specialized underwriting expertise.

In a move to fortify its presence in the natural resources sector, EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants has elevated James R. Pierce to chairman of its national natural resources practice. Pierce will focus on advancing the capabilities, talent acquisition, and expansiveness of the practice within the energy and renewable sectors.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has promoted Ben Wyatt to head of marine for North America and the UK, expanding his role to include oversight of operations in these regions. This strategic decision aims to unify the marine platform and bolster underwriting, strategy, and portfolio management. Additionally, BHSI has promoted Gregg Shannon to vice-president of contractors equipment and inland marine, and Jim Norman to vice-president of inland marine.

Patriot Growth Insurance Services has onboarded Andrea Brogger as chief people officer. Brogger will manage talent, executive compensation, succession planning, and organizational development, leveraging her experience from AssuredPartners, Broadstreet Partners, and TrueBlue to foster a high-performance culture at Patriot.

At Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, Jack Douglas has been appointed executive vice-president of distribution. With over 30 years of experience in insurance sales leadership, Douglas will lead the sales team and drive growth across workplace insurance channels.

In a further strategic move, Christopher Goettelmann has joined Brown & Riding in its national management and professional liability practice, bringing nearly three decades of expertise in professional liability, particularly in hard-to-place errors and omissions risks.

USQRisk has promoted Chris Giuffre to president, as part of its efforts to expand its executive leadership team. Giuffre, a co-founder of USQRisk and formerly the chief strategy officer, will continue to drive growth in structured insurance, reinsurance, and capital solutions. Although Michael Zipper stepped down from the presidency, he remains co-chief executive alongside Parag Abvishi.
