Probitas and Aviva's Strategic Integration Boosts Canadian Underwriting Capabilities

Probitas 1492, fully owned and financially supported by Aviva plc, has announced a strategic move to integrate Volante Canada's underwriting team into its Toronto operations. Effective May 25, 2026, this integration aims to enhance Probitas 1492's underwriting capabilities while maintaining Lloyd’s support for Volante Canada's clients amidst the recent cessation of new underwriting activities.

The merger under the Probitas Canada platform will expand offerings across Professional Lines, Construction, and Auto sectors. Additionally, it aims to refine operations in Casualty, Cyber, and Property insurance. This collaboration seeks to merge technical expertise and broker relationships, fostering product development and improving underwriting resources in key markets.

Jason Storah, CEO of Aviva UK & Ireland General Insurance and Interim CEO of Probitas, highlighted the significant growth potential this integration brings to the Canadian market. He emphasized improved market penetration, operational efficiency, and technical underwriting synergies. Storah stated, "Our strengthened underwriting capability in the Lloyd’s market enhances our ability to support Canadian businesses with innovative and reliable insurance solutions."

Demian Smith, Group CEO of Volante Global Limited, underscored the transition's benefits, noting it presents a stable future for Volante’s Canadian team within Probitas. Smith expressed confidence in the sustained growth and service capabilities enabled by the integration, ensuring ongoing service to the Canadian insurance sector via a robust Lloyd’s platform.
