NLRB Dismisses Labor Practices Charge Against Henry Ford Genesys Hospital

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has dismissed an unfair labor practices charge filed by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters against Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. The complaint centered on alleged delays in providing health insurance information to the union. The NLRB determined that the hospital's response was timely, given the complexity of the health insurance data request.

Teamsters Local 332 was seeking detailed information on the health insurance plans for their members, in preparation for contract negotiations. While the hospital initially responded in June 2025, it acknowledged inaccuracies in the provided data. The corrected information, excluding employee-specific details due to federal privacy requirements, was delivered in August 2025.

The union, dissatisfied with the NLRB ruling, insists that their strike is a reaction to unfair labor practices and plans to appeal the decision. They aim to secure a resolution that respects the seniority of striking nurses and case workers. Despite over 80 negotiation sessions over the past year, disputes continue, particularly regarding the return-to-work agreement and the restoration of previous work shifts.

Furthermore, the NLRB concluded that the hospital’s declaration of impasse was lawful, and the September strike is not classified as an unfair labor practice strike. As negotiations progress, this decision is just one in a series of charges filed by Teamsters Local 332, with the outcome remaining critical to both parties involved.
