Delos Insurance Expands Coverage to 1 Million Homes in California

Delos Insurance Solutions, a property insurance managing general agent, has expanded its coverage to over 1 million homes in California's wildfire-prone areas. Announced to coincide with Climate Awareness Day, this expansion underscores the firm's commitment to leveraging advanced wildfire science to enhance insurance accessibility in these vulnerable regions.

The California home insurance market grapples with strain as non-renewals rise and enrollments in the state’s FAIR plan surge by 43%, reaching 668,609. According to Mark Sektnan, vice-president for state government relations at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, the insurance landscape is in a "fragile state", as reported by Bloomberg.

Delos has capitalized on its sophisticated wildfire risk model, forecasting major wildfires accurately for the past six years, and maintaining impressive loss ratios. The expansion of policy eligibility came through the validation of Delos's wildfire model, allowing 270,000 homes in Southern California's Eaton and Palisades fire zones to be included. This move was supported by refined data sets, enhancing risk assessment capabilities. Increased underwriting capacity from 'A' rated partners further reinforced confidence in Delos's sustainable approach.

Currently, Delos offers coverage to 12 million homes across California, challenging conventional risk assessments by identifying 65% of traditionally high-risk areas as viable under their model. Notably, over half of the homes covered by the FAIR plan qualify for Delos’s comprehensive policies. Kevin Stein, CEO of Delos Insurance Solutions, emphasizes improving insurance accessibility for California homeowners, while enhancing community resilience against wildfires and extending these offerings throughout the Western United States.

Delos collaborates with partners such as InnSure and ROAR Partners to develop innovative solutions, working alongside organizations like CAL FIRE to promote fire safety and education. The company offers various homeowner insurance programs through a network of 14,000 brokers and agents, exclusively supported by companies rated 'A' by AM Best or Demotech.

Established by aerospace engineers in 2017, Delos employs data analytics and machine learning to create accurate underwriting models and contribute to real-time risk mitigation strategies. Recognized as an Insurance Luminary for Technology Innovation in 2025, Delos continues to receive accolades for its technological advancements.
