Travelers Insurance Achieves Strong Performance in Q1 2025 Auto Segment
Travelers Insurance has demonstrated a notable improvement in its personal auto insurance segment for the first quarter of 2025. The company reported a combined ratio of 83.4%, which represents a significant 11.2-point decrease compared to the previous year's figure of 94.6%.
This improvement is even more pronounced in the underlying combined ratio, which adjusts for the impact of catastrophes and prior year reserve developments, showing a reduction to 87.5% from 94.9%. According to Michael Klein, the Executive Vice President and President of Personal Insurance at Travelers, this positive shift has been driven primarily by reduced losses across all coverages, supported by both a favorable trend in claim frequency and a moderation in claim severity.
