Pennsylvania Insurance Department Achievements: Protecting Consumers in 2025
The Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID) marked 2025 with notable achievements in financial recoveries and consumer protection. Through its regulatory initiatives, the department successfully secured approximately $133 million in savings for state residents, highlighting its role in maintaining regulatory compliance requirements.
As part of its efforts, the PID recovered $16.4 million in restitutions, addressing financial mishandling within the insurance industry. These funds were returned to Pennsylvanians affected by errors in their insurance dealings. This success was achieved through diligent investigations and a proactive response to consumer complaints, underscoring the department's commitment to compliance and protection.
Moreover, in collaboration with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the PID leveraged the Life Insurance Policy Locator service, reconnecting around 4,700 individuals with over $116 million in unclaimed life insurance benefits and annuities. These initiatives reflect the department’s dedication to enhancing consumer protection measures and enforcing regulatory compliance within Pennsylvania's insurance industry.
