SiriusPoint Appoints John Sakakeeny as Chief Underwriting Officer

SiriusPoint, a global specialty reinsurer and insurer based in Bermuda, has appointed John Sakakeeny as the Chief Underwriting Officer for the North America Property & Casualty Insurance division. Previously serving as Vice President and Head of Casualty Product at The Hartford for middle and large commercial segments, Sakakeeny brings over two decades of insurance industry expertise to his new role, focusing on regulatory compliance and risk management.

In his new position, Sakakeeny will oversee underwriting operations, managing critical relationships with Managing General Agents (MGAs) across North America. Reporting directly to Patrick Charles, Head of North America Insurance, and Anthony Shapella, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, his responsibilities will include setting strategic direction for underwriting and program management teams, prioritizing profitable growth, technical underwriting skills, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Patrick Charles remarked on the significance of Sakakeeny's expertise, stating, "John's technical leadership is vital as we enhance our underwriting proficiency and strive for profitable expansion across North America."
