On Monday, Insurica Insurance Services announced its strategic acquisition of First Light Program Managers, significantly enhancing its capabilities in underwriting and program administration. The terms of the deal, effective January 1, remain undisclosed, but this acquisition marks Insurica’s largest to date, expanding their influence in the wholesale brokerage and delegated underwriting sectors.
First Light's Expertise in Transportation Insurance
First Light, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, specializes in wholesale brokerage and delegated underwriting, primarily serving the transportation sector with a strong focus on trucking and marine insurance. Founded in 2007 by Anthony L. Johnson, First Light's legacy continues under the leadership of Janet Fender, who stepped into the roles of President and CEO while maintaining her position as Chief Underwriting Officer.
Impact on Insurica’s Growth
As a result of the acquisition, more than 100 employees from First Light will join Insurica, significantly boosting the workforce in both Florida and North Carolina. Dillon Rosenhamer, President of Insurica, highlighted that the acquisition is poised to transform their underwriting capabilities, aligning with regulatory compliance requirements and enhancing risk management strategies. Ranked as the 41st largest broker servicing U.S. businesses, Insurica is strategically positioned to leverage this integration with First Light.
