Key Legal Changes Impacting Property-Casualty Insurance Industry
The property-casualty insurance industry is experiencing noteworthy changes in both litigation and regulatory compliance requirements. Recent key appointments by a top law firm and a state regulatory body highlight the sector's dynamic environment and the ongoing focus on strategic legal oversight.
Legal Appointments in the Insurance Sector
Marshall Dennehey, a well-established law firm operating across seven Eastern U.S. states, has appointed Michael Packer to its board of directors. As the managing attorney of their Fort Lauderdale office and co-chair of the insurance services practice group, Packer plays a vital role in representing major insurance carriers throughout Florida. His expertise and long-standing tenure, coupled with his educational background from the State University of New York at Albany and the University of Miami School of Law, underscore his significant contribution to the firm's leadership.
In tandem with this appointment, the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) has named Rebekah Parkhurst as its general counsel. Parkhurst will manage regulatory compliance and legal oversight for all TDCI divisions. Her extensive experience in state government legal affairs, coupled with her past roles such as assistant state attorney general and deputy general counsel, positions her as a pivotal leader. With degrees from Appalachian School of Law and Marshall University, she takes over from Michael Driver, who dedicated 17 years to public service before moving to the private sector.
