Louisiana Approves State Farm Auto Rate Cut and Homeowners Rate Increase for 2026
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple has approved a 5.9% statewide average rate decrease for over 1 million personal auto insurance policyholders with State Farm, reflecting a decline in physical damage claim frequency. Concurrently, a 9.7% average rate increase was authorized for more than 300,000 State Farm homeowners insurance policyholders, driven by adjusted hurricane risk models and rising non-catastrophe loss trends. These adjustments affect new auto and homeowners policies starting January 1, 2026, with existing homeowners policies updated by mid-December 2025.
