Army Veteran Raises $1.7 Million After GM Pension Loss Impacts Retirement
Edmund Bambas, an 88-year-old Army veteran and former General Motors employee, has raised over $1.7 million through a viral GoFundMe campaign to support his retirement. Bambas retired in 1999 but lost his pension and health care coverage when GM declared bankruptcy in 2012, which severely impacted his financial stability, especially during his wife's illness. Despite these challenges, Bambas continued working full-time at a Meijer supermarket in Michigan to support himself.
