Mercy and Wellvana Partner to Expand Value-Based Care for Independent Providers
Mercy Health System has partnered with Wellvana to offer independent primary care physicians and advanced practice providers new opportunities to engage in value-based care programs. This 20-year affiliation aims to create one of the nation's largest, high-performing clinically integrated networks (CINs), combining Mercy's population health infrastructure with Wellvana's provider enablement platform. The partnership focuses on expanding access to coordinated, high-quality care within Mercy’s service region, which spans Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and neighboring states. Independent providers will gain access to digital health services, electronic medical record (EMR) integration, clinical and operational teams, and alternative payment models aligned with quality care objectives. The value-based care model emphasizes rewarding providers for positive health outcomes and efficient care management rather than volume of services delivered. This collaboration aids independent physicians in managing care effectively across Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and commercial insurance plans, enhancing financial viability and reducing administrative burdens. Mercy, recognized for its large network and quality outcomes, operates over 1,000 physician practice locations and extensive outpatient facilities across multiple states. Wellvana serves more than 800,000 patients nationwide and reports significant Medicare savings through its accountable care organization (ACO) programs. Together, Mercy and Wellvana plan to host educational events to help providers explore value-based care opportunities and support broad adoption. The partnership represents a strategic move to foster sustainable, outcome-driven care delivery among independent providers while leveraging data-driven care coordination resources and payment innovation. This initiative is expected to improve patient outcomes and health system efficiency within Mercy’s extensive multi-state service area.
