Kettering Health Ends Medicare Advantage Contracts with Humana and Devoted Health
Kettering Health, a hospital system in Ohio, announced it will terminate contracts with Medicare Advantage insurers Humana, Inc. and Devoted Health, Inc., effective December 31, 2025. This decision follows an extensive review identifying significant administrative and payment challenges, including claim denials and reduced payments, which posed operational burdens for Kettering Health. The hospital system engaged in contract renewal discussions with both insurers but was unable to reach a mutually agreeable resolution.
Affected Medicare Advantage enrollees will have the opportunity to change their plans during the Annual Coordinated Election Period from October 15 to December 7, 2025, as well as during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 to March 31, 2026. Kettering Health plans to notify impacted patients and provide resources to facilitate plan transitions, which will take effect beginning January 1, 2026.
