HHS OIG Identifies Errors in NGS Medicare Cost Report Desk Reviews

A recent review by the HHS Office of Inspector General revealed that of 60 Medicare cost reports handled by National Government Services (NGS), all desk reviews contained errors or inconsistencies with Medicare requirements, leading to multiple report reopenings. The OIG recommends NGS enhance its desk reviewer and supervisor education to improve adherence to review criteria and detection of incorrect audit adjustments. NGS agreed with these recommendations and has initiated corrective actions to address the identified issues.
