US Files Civil Forfeiture Suits Over $33M Medicare Fraud by DME Providers
Two durable medical equipment (DME) companies, Vida Med Center LLC and Med-Union Medical Center, Inc., face civil forfeiture complaints filed by the U.S. government in the Southern District of Florida for allegedly submitting fraudulent Medicare claims exceeding $33 million. The allegations state these companies billed for medically unnecessary equipment or services not provided as claimed, with Vida Med submitting claims totaling over $14 million and Med-Union over $19 million. Med-Union's claims notably stemmed from prescriptions issued by a single provider.
