CMS Medicare Learning Network Web-Based Training Supports Provider Education
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) offers a diverse range of web-based training (WBT) courses via the Medicare Learning Network® (MLN), targeting healthcare providers involved in Medicare Parts C and D, coding, billing, and fraud prevention. These self-paced courses cover essential topics including Medicare reporting requirements, fraud detection, diagnosis and procedure coding with ICD-10, billing forms, and appeals processes. However, CMS does not award continuing education (CE) credits for these trainings, recommending participants seek CE opportunities through their own organizations or professional entities.
MLN courses require up-to-date web browsers for optimal performance and provide varying contact hours based on course length and complexity. Additionally, CMS encourages healthcare professionals to subscribe to the MLN Connects® newsletter for updates on course availability and latest information on Medicare topics. This initiative supports regulatory compliance, professional development, and operational accuracy in Medicare program administration, aiming to enhance provider knowledge and reduce errors in Medicare claim submissions and fraud management.
