Mercy and Humana Launch 65 Prime+ Clinics for Medicare Seniors

Mercy and Humana have collaborated to launch 65 Prime+ by Mercy Primary Care clinics, targeting Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 and older. The clinics aim to streamline access to health care tailored to the needs of the aging U.S. population. Following plans announced in January 2025, the first two 65 Prime+ clinics opened in Missouri—one in Springfield on June 4 and another in Nixa on June 12. This initiative builds on Mercy's initial 65 Prime+ clinic started in 2023 in Joplin, Missouri, developed to address the healthcare demands of the growing senior demographic, which has expanded by over one-third in the last decade according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The partnership between Mercy and Humana underscores a strategic effort to broaden access across additional communities in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. These clinics are designed to be in-network for most Medicare Advantage plans and also accept Original Medicare. The clinics operate under a care model that emphasizes comprehensive patient engagement, extending beyond symptom treatment to include education and social support within a community-oriented environment.

Each clinic is planned to serve up to 2,000 new patients, offering extended appointment times and health management resources more suited to older adults' needs. Mercy is positioning these clinics as mini community centers where patients can receive primary care, Medicare guidance, and participate in wellness activities.

Mercy is a large health system operating across multiple states, recognized for patient experience excellence and the management of a high-performing Accountable Care Organization (ACO). It manages extensive healthcare infrastructure, including acute and specialty hospitals, outpatient facilities, and thousands of practitioners. Mercy's commitment includes providing substantial community benefits, including unreimbursed Medicaid and charity care, with over $500 million in free care delivered during fiscal 2023.

Humana Inc. brings insurance expertise with a focus on facilitating health access for various populations, including Medicare and Medicaid enrollees, through its insurance products and CenterWell healthcare services. The Mercy and Humana cooperation represents an important development toward integrated and patient-centered care for seniors on Medicare, illustrating evolving healthcare delivery models in the insurance and provider sectors.

This initiative reflects broader trends in healthcare designed to address the needs of an aging population by incorporating convenience, specialized service lines, and community integration. The strategic geographic expansion aims to leverage Mercy's extensive network and Humana's insurance capabilities to improve service delivery and outcomes for older adults.
