Home Sellers to Receive Approximately $250 Each in $1B Buyer Agent Commissions Settlement
Home sellers who filed claims in the buyer agent commissions class action lawsuits are expected to receive approximately $250 each from a $1 billion settlement fund. Over 2.5 million claims were submitted by the May 9 deadline, with the remaining settlement funds after attorney fees and administration costs estimated at around $630 million to be distributed among claimants. The settlement notices were extensively communicated through over 100 million emails, 38 million postcards, and a staffed contact center handling tens of thousands of inquiries. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit is currently reviewing the settlement, with a ruling anticipated early next year before final payments are distributed.
