Muscogee Nation Launches Medicare Advantage Plan for Community Coverage

The Muscogee Nation has launched Native Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan designed to enhance healthcare coverage for both tribal and non-tribal residents, effective October 15.

This new initiative marks a significant step in expanding healthcare access within the Muscogee Nation, offering benefits such as an extensive network of medical facilities and professionals, alongside improved dental and transportation services. Native Advantage is available to Medicare-eligible individuals across eleven counties in Oklahoma, including Hughes, McIntosh, and Mayes, which positions it uniquely to address local healthcare challenges.

By bundling Medicare Part A and Part B, with options for prescription coverage and wellness programs, Native Advantage provides an alternative to several national plans that might not cover regional providers adequately. Shawn Terry, Secretary of Health for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, emphasized the importance of this plan: “The Muscogee Nation is committed to creating opportunities that improve the lives of our people while honoring the values, traditions and sovereignty that define us.”

Why Native Advantage Matters to the Industry

Native Advantage reflects deeper market trends towards locally-tailored healthcare solutions, addressing gaps in national coverage maps. For insurance professionals, this development is a testament to the growing importance of community-focused plans that not only meet regulatory standards but also align with cultural and social values. As these localized plans garner attention, agents and brokers may find opportunities in promoting similar initiatives that cater to community-specific healthcare needs.
