Homeowners Insurance Premium Trends in Florida's Counties

Insurance premiums for homeowners in Lee and Charlotte counties decreased on average between March 2025 and March 2026, while Collier County noted a slight rise, according to state insurance data analyzed by the Insurance Information Institute.

During this period, premiums dropped by 1.5% in Lee County and 1.3% in Charlotte County. In contrast, Collier County saw a minor increase of 0.2%. The average annual premiums reported were $3,576 for Lee County, $3,160 for Charlotte County, and $5,344 for Collier County, reflecting the different risk levels and insurance environments in these areas.

Adding to this trend, Florida's regulatory body recently authorized rate reductions for four insurers, impacting over 62,000 policies, indicating a shift towards more competitive pricing. Since the start of 2024, there has been significant activity among insurers in Florida, with 48 companies applying for rate reductions and 53 seeking to maintain their rates. This active regulatory environment highlights the ongoing efforts to stabilize the insurance market in the state and provide relief to policyholders following a challenging period marked by natural disasters and increased claims.
