Vertafore Introduces AI-Driven Agents to Enhance Insurance Workflow Efficiency

Vertafore has unveiled its Agentic Agency model, introducing AI-driven Velocity agents designed to elevate the operational efficiency of independent insurance agencies.

Based in Denver, the InsurTech innovator aims to streamline integral tasks through AI enhancements. By integrating these agents into existing workflows, Vertafore intends to automate mundane tasks such as policy servicing, document research, and policy processing. The move is expected to significantly cut down on time-consuming manual work, allowing agency staff to focus more on client relationship-building and business development.

AI in the Insurance Workflow

The core of the Agentic Agency lies in its AI integration strategy. Daily activities like transferring system information, conducting document searches, and managing service tasks often involve repetitive processes. Vertafore's AI agents are set to automate these tasks, enhancing efficiency within insurance workflows and minimizing the need for manual intervention.

These agents play diverse roles within the agency lifecycle. Digital Producer agents support prospecting, placement, and renewals; Smart Submissions agents prepare submissions and manage policy verifications; Agentic Servicer agents handle service requests; and Accounting Automation agents manage billing workflows. This strategic division underscores a commitment to operational cohesion across insurance processes.

Industry Impact and Rollout

James Thom, Vertafore's Chief AI Officer, notes that their Distribution Velocity initiative aims to unify operational workflows rather than focusing on isolated tasks. The AI agents are designed to handle interconnected work processes, thus providing agency personnel more time to invest in client relationships and business strategy.

Although the AI agents are currently available to early adopters, a general release is slated for 2026. In addition to the already announced roles, two new agents will soon join the Smart Submissions lineup: the Velocity Data Collection Agent, which will enrich data structuring from incoming documents, and the Velocity Carrier Routing Agent, which advises on market placements.

CEO Insights and Future Implications

Amy Zupon, CEO of Vertafore, underscores the importance of maintaining professional judgment and client relationships within independent agencies. She emphasizes that while AI takes over repetitive tasks, insurance professionals can leverage their expertise more substantively in decision-making processes.

"Independent agencies have always created value through their expertise, judgment, and trusted relationships," Zupon stated. "The Agentic Agency is about using AI to take on more of the manual and repetitive work, surface the information and decisions that need attention, and give agency professionals more time to apply their expertise where it matters most."
