$25 Million Boost to Nonprofits Insurance Alliance to Support Coverage

A coalition of nine leading foundations has committed $25 million to bolster the Nonprofits Insurance Alliance (NIA), a key provider of insurance solutions for over 25,000 nonprofit organizations across the United States.

Based in Santa Cruz, NIA has dedicated 37 years to delivering property and casualty insurance specifically for the nonprofit sector. This boost of funds arrives at a critical time as nonprofits continue to grapple with securing affordable and comprehensive insurance amid volatile market conditions. Highlighting the importance of this support, NIA operates as a 501(c)(3) charitable entity, providing an essential safety net for organizations challenged by the often unpredictable commercial insurance market.

Challenges Facing Nonprofits

Nonprofit organizations depend heavily on accessible and reasonably priced insurance to maintain their operations. Many have experienced difficulties in finding adequate coverage through commercial insurers, who often retract from the marketplace, posing significant risks to nonprofits and their brokers. Pamela Davis, the Founder, President, and CEO of NIA, has voiced concerns over these gaps in coverage, stressing the importance of NIA’s commitment to delivering stable and specialized insurance options tailored specifically to nonprofits.
