Julie Pearce Appointed as Iowa's Acting Deputy Insurance Commissioner

Julie Pearce has been appointed as the acting deputy insurance commissioner for market regulation in Iowa, bringing over 19 years of industry expertise to her new role.

The Iowa Department of Insurance and Financial Services has selected Pearce, who has played a pivotal role within the division since 2024 as a holding company specialist. In this position, she has expertly managed strategy and risk for an international insurance group, focusing on a variety of complex issues such as cross-border reinsurance and AI systems evaluation. Her extensive background encompasses life, annuity, and property and casualty insurance, which equips her well for her new responsibilities, including the regulation of insurance markets in Iowa. Pearce's leadership with the Property and Casualty Personal Lines Task Force, addressing key issues like social inflation and natural disasters, underscores her capability to tackle the challenges facing today's insurance industry.

In addition to her work in regulation, Pearce has gained substantial experience in the financial services sector. Before her appointment, she served as vice president and chief business development and transformation officer at Wellabe, formerly known as American Enterprise Group. She also held significant roles at Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa and Ernst & Young. Beyond her day-to-day professional duties, Pearce contributes to the broader insurance community through her involvement in the Global Insurance Symposiums and as a mentor in the Global Insurance Accelerator—promoting discussions on emerging technologies like adaptive AI supervision, which are crucial in today's rapidly evolving market.
