RockRose Risk Secures $12.5 Million for Wildfire Property Insurance Expansion

RockRose Risk, a leader in wildfire risk management and property insurance, has secured $12.5 million in Series A funding to expand its operations into a comprehensive property risk management platform.

Leading the investment round were Crosslink Capital and Congruent Ventures, joined by Nuveen Real Estate. The infusion of capital will support RockRose Risk's strategy to integrate property assessments, wildfire mitigation, and insurance offerings into one seamless service. This initiative includes plans to acquire service providers such as tree trimming and roofing businesses to further streamline their offerings under a single provider, enhancing the link between property conditions and insurance coverage. CEO Andrew Engler emphasized the success of blending advanced technology with property assessments and mitigation strategies to achieve improved insurance outcomes.

Expanding Reach in High-Risk Areas

RockRose Risk currently serves both commercial and residential property owners in wildfire-prone regions of California, Colorado, and Nevada. Their approach is timely as wildfire risks continue to escalate across the western US, prompting insurers to reevaluate coverage availability and pricing models. By providing detailed risk assessments and evidence of mitigation measures, RockRose Risk supports the transition of properties from the high-risk insurance market to the admitted insurance market. This approach is especially critical in California, where the state-backed FAIR Plan has seen increased reliance.

Transforming the Insurance Landscape

David Silverman, Partner at Crosslink Capital, highlighted RockRose Risk's potential to revolutionize the insurance industry. By prioritizing mitigation, they aim to make insurance coverage more accessible and cost-effective in high-risk areas. The Series A funding will further drive technological advancements and service expansion, including the deployment of their Rosebud™ rover for enhanced property assessments.

The financial backing empowers RockRose Risk to consolidate its market position, integrating assessment, mitigation, and insurance services into a unified platform. This alignment of insurance operations with holistic environmental systems is critical, particularly given the unique challenges wildfires pose that traditional financial models struggle to accommodate.
