State Farm’s $1.5 Million Grants for Volunteer Fire Departments

A significant collaboration between State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has resulted in the distribution of $1.5 million in grants to 150 volunteer fire departments across 43 states, highlighting the inaugural Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day on August 18.

This initiative, known as the State Farm® Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, reflects the ongoing commitment to supporting volunteer fire departments, which comprise 82% of fire services in the U.S. Despite their crucial role, many face financial constraints that hinder access to essential equipment. The program, which first began in 2024, has already provided $4 million in financial support to enhance the safety and effectiveness of these important community responders.

The grants awarded this year, amounting to $10,000 per department, are earmarked for purchasing vital equipment such as personal protective gear, EMS tools, rescue devices, and communication equipment. This targeted support aims to improve both responder safety and community protection capabilities.
