CoxHealth Launches New ACA Marketplace Options in Missouri
CoxHealth has announced a strategic plan to offer new health coverage options through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace in eight Missouri counties, including Greene. This initiative stems from a collaboration with Oscar Health Inc. and marks a significant shift following CoxHealth's previous decision to discontinue ACA Marketplace insurance in Greene and Webster Counties by 2026. This expansion reflects a broadened effort to enhance ACA accessibility under the current regulatory compliance requirements.
In addition to Greene, the ACA Marketplace offerings will expand into Barry, Barton, Christian, Lawrence, Stone, Taney, and Webster counties. Cox HealthPlans will transition its focus by ending direct ACA Marketplace coverage in its existing five-county region, although it will still provide off-exchange individual insurance products in these areas. This targeted move aims to better align with consumer needs and evolving underwriting practices within these communities.
Partnership & Enrollment Details
Max Buetow, President and CEO of CoxHealth, emphasized the benefits of this partnership, noting it provides a robust option for families seeking ACA Marketplace coverage with familiar CoxHealth providers. The new joint plans with Oscar Health will be available on HealthCare.gov during the open enrollment period from November 1, 2026, to January 15, 2027, for the 2027 coverage year. Additionally, these plans are accessible to employer groups via Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs), which offer a contemporary alternative to traditional group health insurance policies. According to CoxHealth, "ICHRAs allow companies to allocate tax-free dollars to employees for purchasing an individual health plan on the ACA Marketplace that aligns with their specific healthcare needs."
