AGI Acquires Heller-Kowitz: Strategic Acquisition in Insurance

American Growth Insurance (AGI), a leading insurance brokerage network utilizing artificial intelligence, has recently acquired Heller-Kowitz Insurance Advisors, a full-service insurance agency based in Baltimore, Maryland. While the financial specifics remain undisclosed, this acquisition marks AGI's strategic initiative to develop a nationwide network of operator-led agencies, starting in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Supported by Rockbridge Growth Equity and Atomic, AGI is committed to enhancing client services and driving long-term growth. They aim to achieve this by equipping experienced brokerage operators with advanced technology, all while preserving the essential relationship-based approach of the insurance industry. Heller-Kowitz, acknowledged as a Best Practices agency by Reagan Consulting and established in 2014 by industry veterans Steve Heller and Brian Kowitz, offers a wide range of services, including personal and commercial lines, employee benefits, and life insurance.

Post-acquisition, Heller-Kowitz will seamlessly integrate with AGI's technology platform, gaining access to exclusive tools designed to improve efficiency and service delivery. Steve Heller emphasized, “As AGI expands its platform and capabilities, we are committed to adopting technology that drives scalability and operational excellence without compromising the culture that defines who we are.” This strategic integration focuses on blending cutting-edge technology with dedicated personnel to enhance client interactions and drive company growth.

Brian Morgan, CEO of AGI, spoke on the integration, stating, “We believe the future of insurance will be built by combining great operators with great technology. Heller-Kowitz is exactly the kind of agency we want in our network: strong client relationships, deep expertise, and a reputation for service.” He highlighted the transformative potential of becoming an AI-native company to maximize operational capabilities and growth.

With this foundational acquisition, AGI plans to further expand its network of skilled brokerage operators. These agencies are expected to benefit from increased scale, advanced automation, and an expanded carrier network, all while retaining the strong client relationships critical to their operations. Brian Kowitz noted, “We’ve received interest from many potential acquirers over the past several years, but their proposals were largely the same. AGI’s approach stood apart. We recognized a unique opportunity to combine operational excellence with purposeful leadership, creating a long-term strategy that prioritizes our clients' well-being while leveraging state-of-the-art technology and AI-driven innovation.”
