Nicholas Juruba's Journey in Life Insurance

Nicholas Juruba embarked on his career in logistics and international shipping after completing his education at the Caribbean Maritime University. Following his graduation in 2019, his career took a new direction when he joined the JN Group in 2021. Working in customer service at the JN Member Care Centre allowed him to hone interpersonal skills that facilitated his transition to the life insurance sector with JN Life Insurance.

Although Juruba had not anticipated a role in finance or insurance, he has adapted well, focusing on helping individuals and families secure their futures. Since joining JN Life Insurance in 2023, he has advanced from a new business officer to a senior position, highlighting his commitment and effectiveness in insurance operations.

Juruba expressed his satisfaction in being part of an organization where he contributes to meaningful change through daily interactions. His responsibilities include managing applications, ensuring a seamless underwriting process, and acting as a vital connection among clients, advisors, and internal departments, thereby facilitating the progression of applications into approved policies.

Recognition and Continuing Education

His dedication and meticulous attention to detail in customer service earned him the recognition of Employee of the Year in 2025 during the JN Life Insurance Staff Awards. Juruba emphasized the importance of team collaboration in achieving such accolades, expressing surprise at being selected by managers due to his focused work ethic.

Outside of work, Juruba enjoys traveling and has interests in real estate and farming, stemming from his high school involvement with the Jamaica 4-H Clubs. At 28, he remains committed to his career development, pursuing courses in supervisory and strategic management at the University College of the Caribbean in Kingston.

Looking toward the future, Juruba is optimistic about his growth with JN Life Insurance, highlighting the company's potential for expansion and client opportunities. Susan Holness, chief of new business and underwriting, commended Juruba's dedication, while Ottieno Channer, assistant manager in the same department, noted his reliability and commitment, often exceeding expectations in his role.
