Leadership Changes at RT Specialty Strengthen Insurance Market Position
RT Specialty, a division of Ryan Specialty's wholesale broking operations, is poised for significant leadership transitions effective August 1. Brendan Mulshine, presently co-president, will step into the CEO role, succeeding Ed McCormack. This shift aligns with the company's strategic leadership succession plan, aimed at strengthening its position in the insurance market. Ed McCormack is set to become vice chairman and will serve in this capacity until 2027.
Underpinning these advancements, Mulshine's tenure since joining Ryan Specialty in 2012 has seen notable contributions across various business segments. Coinciding with his promotion, the company announced adjustments within its property and casualty units. Brenda (Ballard) Austenfeld, co-president of RT Specialty and current CEO of the national property practice, will transition to deputy vice chairman at RT Specialty. Her recognition as a Business Insurance Women to Watch honoree in 2006 underscores her industry influence, with expectations to become an Iconic Leader by 2025.
Hugh Mooney, currently the president of the national property practice, is set to succeed Austenfeld as CEO. In the casualty sector, Chris Houska will transition to vice chairman of RT Specialty’s national casualty practice, maintaining his role until 2027. Ryan Grimes, the current president of the national casualty practice, will ascend to the CEO role, signifying Ryan Specialty's dedication to strong leadership and continued growth in its insurance offerings.
