US Insurtech Market Sees Significant Senior Appointments Impacting Key Areas

The US insurance and insurtech market has witnessed a wave of significant senior appointments this week, influencing key areas such as board governance, investment strategies, energy underwriting, specialty services, and AI-driven operations.

Ascot Group has appointed Joseph Eppers as its new Group Chief Investment Officer, adding him to the global executive committee. Previously with Selective Insurance as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Eppers brings a wealth of experience from roles at BlackRock and Endurance Specialty Holdings. Reporting directly to Mark Wilcox, the Group Chief Financial Officer, Eppers is praised for his investment acumen and industry connections, crucial for navigating complex market environments.

Zurich has named Alex Baron as the head of its US energy division, effective June 9 in Houston. Baron is tasked with guiding the strategy for Zurich's US energy sector, encompassing industries like oil and gas, petrochemicals, and renewables. His past leadership roles at AIG, Phillips 66, Swiss Re, CNA, and Aon Risk Services contribute to his extensive experience, as emphasized by Tracey Hunt, Zurich's Global Head of Energy and Marine.

Davies, a UK-based professional services and technology firm, has appointed Cindy Harris as Vice President of Business Development for North America, focusing on long-term care and disability insurance markets. With over 25 years in sales leadership, Harris's expertise is complemented by Tim Lauro and Eric Gasbarro, who have been named Vice Presidents for Property and Casualty TPA Services and Loss Control, respectively.
